I have been using Kinesio tape since I had a severe knee injury almost 3 years ago. After twisting my knee while running in snow I would wake up with my knee feeling like a really bad toothache. I finally figured out that placing a piece of Kinesio tape in a certain spot around my knee calmed things down.

How about my Massage Practice? I have always felt that once I completed my massage sessions there should be something else that would augment my massage work and make the session last longer. This is when I figured out that Kinesio tape was the extra holding power that I was looking for and went off for a weekend of training.

Is it for you? For the most part I probably tape 50% of my clients if there is any chance of helping make sure the change we are trying to make lasts longer. I also have clients come in and want to learn how to Kinesio tape a certain body part to get them through an event.

YES you can certainly buy some tape and look at some youtube videos That’s how I learned. There are certain tricks and techniques but for the most part it’s fairly simple.

Remember:
•Not all tape is created equal! I personally use Kinesio Gold and also Rock Tape.
•Clean the skin with hand sanitizer first.
•Be sure to understand the proper amount of tape stretch for you. Very important!
•Experiment! If one taping method doesn’t help try another. There’s plenty of ways.

Good Luck!
